About Me:
I live in London - I never used to trust that there was anything in spirituality, it all seemed too weird and RISKY, then I read Ken Wilbers 'Spectrum of Consciousness' and everything started to fall into place. An unsuspected encounter with Ganesha catapulted me into the consciousness adventure which has continued to unfold in the most extra-ordinary ways. I have engaged with a few teachers over the last few years and lived in a community for a while (I used to be a student of Andrew Cohen and lived in his London community for about 8 years) - I'm constantly in awe at the way the mystery continues to reveal itself and I'm starting to understand that we are all on the journey, so I learn as much from the 'non-spiritual' types if not more than from those 'consciously' engaged on the path. I'm learning to embrace the totality of the human condition as self and others which is generating the most incredible sense of respect and love for the expression of the divine that is the human condition. Watch this space, who knows what is going to unfold next……
Update - recently getting into digital photography - check out my website http://www.maverickimages.phanfare.com/

Work - I'm an Optometrist. For the last few years I have been doing some trips to Africa (Burkina Faso and Ethiopia) with a UK charity Vison Aid Overseas (VAO), which is one of the groups trying to tackle the huge issue of global blindness. 50% of blindness in the developing world is caused by refractive error and in a significant number of cases this can be solved with a simple pair of spectacles!!!!
I'm going to be running the British London 10K run on 1st July '07 to raise sponsership for VAO and for my next trip out to Ethiopia on 25th August. I have set up a Just Giving website so if you would like to sponser me click on the link below.
Update on the 10k - it was an incredible day - 20,000 people, almost all running for a cause or charity dear to their hearts, pounding the iconic streets of central London - the wave of positive energy swept us up and demanded giving everything with no holding back - I did my best time ever, 53 mins 54 secs and am close to hitting my target of raising £1000 for Vision Aid Overseas. Please feel free to help me by clicking on the link below - Thank you :-)
